Today I ventured out into the wilds of Tooting Broadway. I love it down there, a fairly quick commute and before you know it it feels like you are in another country. A mix of Jamaica when you are in the markets or Sri Lanka when more on the street. Obviously a colder version of them both. I used to live in Colliers Wood and the market reminds me of where I would buy whole ducks and game to take back to de-feather and gut them. Which after all that effort left you with less meat and a whole lot more mess than just buying them prepared for you.
My client here – James**, is an Architect and works mostly from home. Progress with him has been up and down. A long term dieter it was very hard to teach a new way of doing things because the old sets of rules were blocking him hearing my words. The sure fire way round this is to get the body to pass on what I am trying to say. For this they must only look inside for the answers, look inside after eating, after exercising. The body is telling you all the time what it wants. The mind, especially the busy mind, does not want to listen!
James is suffering from “Busy-Mind-itis”….one of the most effective fat gaining diseases known to man. Last session progress had been poor, James dropped into automatic demanding that we do a “super hard training session”. He is of course with the wrong trainer for that….you will never get me to subscribe to the “out exercise a bad diet” approach to getting results.
If you have been eating pathetically I want to know why? I am not going to swear curse or have a go at the client. We are not in school. Instead we will try one of a few possible solutions. I introduced him to Emotional Freedom Technique, which I now call RESET – Rapid Easy Stress Elimination Technique, it is pretty much the same thing but the creator of EFT wants to keep EFT linked directly to his way of doing it. Mine is a simpler form of it. For the lay person, it’s all the same. We did 10 minutes of it between exercises.
Checking back in yesterday James had shed a load of weight this last week. Measurably down, feeling good and on target. This sort of thing often happens when you start using mind and behaviour techniques. The person is so close to getting it right they need the tiniest nudge to put them on track. This is what happened last session. Then with things on track, a good week of eating to back up is exercise he got what he asked for from the previous week, we just smashed it up in the training session. That is the right way to go about things. You have to earn the right to kill yourself in a exercise session. Earn that right, then see the rewards. Demand it because you have been eating badly and you will just piss the body off and then be moaning later on that for all your hard fitness efforts you don’t have anything to show for it. …my point exactly!
On a personal fitness note I totally killed the gym today, three amazing session in 3 days….exciting stuff. Legs day is never easy and 30 sets on the different leg muscle left their toll. I am stiff as here today writing this and I didn’t even use close to heavy weights. Food wise, I suffered the exact same problem as yesterday. At 2500 calories, 140g of protein I could not for the life of me want to eat more. I forget how it took me months of eating to get upto 31000 calories of natural food desire. The 17 days fat stripping phase back at my more natural thresholds has reset the calorie calculator in the head. Tomo I will nail more protein into the body. I am looking for a minimum of 175g (2.5x body weight) but ideally up to 225g (3 x body weight). As I am not using supplements (I am leaving it for a test later down the line) it means you have to be right on it to get these amounts in day in day out.

* This is my own 10 point self measurement system, it does not correlate to body fat scores. At a guess 40mm – 7.5%, 50mm – 9.5%, 60mm – 11%, 70mm – 12.5%. I do not take it everyday if looking to gain muscle or maintain as it puts me off wanting to eat more. If on fat loss phase i take it daily.

N.B This Blog will have little checking for good grammar as one I despise grammar, it slows me down and secondly I am not expecting many to any people to read it so it is irrelevant anyhow.
