Second day of Ramadan and this time i made sunrise without the oversleeping issues of yesterday. So I was done eating and drinking by 4.55 and held the fast to sunset – 21.15. A good 16 hours of fun!! Today was not that hard again. Unlike yesterday where i had kept the diary free I had clients scattered during the day and night so it was more a test of the non water drinking issue. Though I was slightly thirsty again it was not that hard. The body being very fast to adapt was not as adrenaline fuelled as yesterday. Though it was still slightly pumped. Various niggles in the body started appearing which often happens when dehydrated and low blood sugar levels. Though not exercising doesn’t help that issue as not been able to realign my posture as a good exercise session does.
It is interesting to see your habitual patterns exposed by changing your routine. Various times I would find myself drifting into the kitchen to look for something to drink or eat. Then you realise there is not one reason you need to go into the kitchen as there is nothing you can do. Likewise you finish your morning sessions and you get a quick flash of “what should I eat?”. Then you remember that the answer is nothing.
One thing I love about this elimination is the simplicity. I have worked with a few people who have lost a vast amount of weight drinking shakes. For many months they stuck to their shake only diet and lost weight. The reason they were seeing me was because they were regaining their weight on their return to normal eating. The problem was that they never learnt how to eat during their diet, but they still got results. I am a “result-ist” and know whatever crazy diet one follows, success ultimately lies in your transition plan. But as long as the end point of success is reached i am not overly against any protocol (s) used to get there. I am enjoying the same simplistic approach of Ramadan. Nothing to think about, dont eat or drink. Make sure food in house for sunset and sunrise!

*This is my own 10 point self measurement system, it does not correlate to body fat scores. At a guess 40mm – 8%, 50mm – 9.5%, 60mm – 11%, 70mm – 12.5%. I do not take it everyday if looking to gain muscle or maintain as it puts me off wanting to eat more. If on fat loss phase I take it daily.
