Many people have a slow or underactive thyroid gland. This has been linked to difficulty losing weight. While you can easily make an argument that Thyroid makes weight loss a challenge my experience with clients has been different. For me the battle to lose fat is psychologically and behaviourally based over physical.
While the Thyroid does affect metabolism some studies have shown it is only contributes around 10% to your total calorie needs. Low thyroid doesn’t mean no thyroid so the actual reduction people may suffer is some 1-5% of calorie needs. This could be as less than 50 calories per day, e.g. 4 peanuts. If you take thyroid medication then this should have resolved that deficit already.
Hope In A Lost Situation
The above statement should inspire and motivate you. If your thyroid isn’t stopping you (which is hard to resolve) then the true problem can be overcome. the truth is that losing fat is difficult for most people. Mainly because their ingrained habitual behaviours are stopping them progressing. The great news is any behaviour can be changed, in the same way any behaviour has already been learnt. So you, like anyone, can achieve their goals.
In the video below this UK actress decided to test her metabolism to get to the bottom of it.
The video raises some important issues in regards to the balance between what is a slow metabolism and what is simply misexecution of what is needed to get in shape.
